Our clinics are associated and within National Pharmacies Optical at Newton and Marden. Mark O’Connor is the Optometrist that will be doing the eye examination service.
This provides the patient with an assessment of their eye’s health, as well as their vision capability. If glasses are needed, Mark will then give each patient a copy of their spectacle prescription.

We receive no commission from the sale of spectacles, however we receive income from the sale of contact lenses and normal consultation fees, which are in most cases bulk billed to Medicare. National Pharmacy members receive 20% off the purchase of contact lenses.
If you need new spectacles the staff from National Pharmacies Optical can show you a wide range of fashionable eyewear.
So essentially we don’t feel pressured to change your spectacle prescription unnecessarily. This makes the consultation reasonably relaxing for both Mark and the patient. Mark consults at both Practices at different times during the week.
Recently Mark appeared on Totally Wild doing a rather edited eye test, however it was fun, fast forward to the 4minute mark.

About Mark O'Connor
Mark is from a family of Optometrists, his grandfather Reg had a practice in Adelaide, and his father David still consults in Port Augusta. Mark was born and educated in Port Augusta, before moving to University in Adelaide and then the University of NSW.
After graduating he worked in the Barossa for a few years before moving back to Adelaide and working for various practises around the city.
In 2001 Mark was married to Suzanne and in the same year, Mark and Paul Fotkou set up Newton, and shared the consulting activities before Paul moved to his own practice. In 2007 Mark and Suzanne had their first child Evie and also decided to set up the Marden practice. In 2009, they welcomed Erin into the family, Mark thinks two girls will be enough.
Mark lives in Evandale, and enjoys playing golf when he can.
